Emerald Employment Medicals: Your Guide to the Coal Board Medical Process (Coal Board Mine Workers Health Scheme)
The Coal Board Medical is part of the Queensland Governments Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme (CMWHS).
It is designed to protect the health of Queensland coal mine workers and is overseen by the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNPME).
It involves a health assessment when the worker first starts in the industry and then at least every 5 years.
What is involved in the Coal Mine Workers Health assessment?
The health assessment involves completing a health assessment and Chest X-Ray.
The Coal Board Health Assessment is made up of the following parts:
Section 1 – Completed by the employer
Section 2 – Completed by the worker
Section 3 – Completed by an examining Medical Officer (EMO)
Chest X-Ray examination and a dual read B Read report – Completed by Lungscreen Australia.
Section 4 – Completed by an Appointed Medical Advisor (AMA)
Information on each step is below.
