Medical Services

At Employment Medicals, we are committed to making the process as simple and efficient as possible. We aim to complete all components of your Coal Board Medical or Pre-Employment Medical in-house whenever required, ensuring a seamless and convenient experience.

Where appropriate, we can also act as your nominated EMO (Examining Medical Officer).

Our services include the following:

Coal Board Medicals (CBM)

A Coal Board Medical is a mandatory, standardised health examination for anyone working in the Queensland coal industries.

This process is generally repeated every 5 years to ensure the workers' health.

ERT (Emergency Response Team)

An ERT (Emergency Response Team Medical) is a specialised Coal Board Medical designed for rescue members on mine-sites.

This medical is repeated every 1-2 years depending on the age of the team member.

Drug and Alcohol (DAS)

A Drug and Alcohol Assessment is a screening process designed to ensure a worker is fit for duty and not impaired by substances while working in a safety-sensitive mining environment.

Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)

Physical Therapy Session

The Functional Capacity Assessment is the physical section of the medical conducted by our physiotherapist. This section is to determine the workers' ability to perform daily tasks without issue.
